Michael Sillers
Biography
Born in London, Ontario, Michael was raised in Toronto from his very early years. During high school, he worked for the City of Toronto and YMCA, mainly responsible for planning and running programs such as arts and crafts classes as well as movie nights and other recreational activities.
In the 1980s, Michael studied drawing and painting at the Ontario College of Art after which he spent several years in the retail photography industry, designing point of sale and window displays for such companies as Black's and Japan Camera among others.
More recently, an increasing interest in computer technology has led to an exploration the application of manual techniques to digital photography, producing work which has been exhibited in such diverse locations as Argentina and Texas, as well as more locally across Toronto and nearby communities. He continues to paint and combine traditional and new media in his work.
Michael Sillers is represented by the ACA Gallery in Toronto. He is a member of the Artists' Network of Riverdale and actively shows around Toronto as well as elsewhere in Ontario and is often involved in charity and social causes.
